ARKADELPHIA,
ARKANSAS OCTOBER 23, 2001 –
The seventh annual Arkansas
Quality Award (AQA)
celebration was held October
23 at the Statehouse
Convention Center in Little
Rock. Governor Mike Huckabee
honored Scroll Technologies
with the "GOVERNOR’S
QUALITY AWARD". The
governor hosted the major
awards ceremony attended by
approximately 450 business and
civic leaders from throughout
the State of Arkansas. The
selection process was based on
the Malcolm Baldrige National
Quality Award criteria. Scroll
Technologies had also been
recognized nationally in 1999
by Industry Week Magazine as
One of North America’s
"10 BEST PLANTS".
In
addition to the prestigious
Governor’s Quality Award, 32
other organizations were
presented the Quality
Achievement Award, the Quality
Commitment Award, or the
Quality Interest Award
depending on their level of
accomplishment. As
well as the recognition, each
organization receives written
feedback citing strengths and
areas that need improvement in
its quality management
program.
The Arkansas
Quality Award program was
created through a special
partnership between the State
of Arkansas and the private
business community. The
program’s goal has been to
encourage as many Arkansas
organizations as possible to
engage in continuous quality
improvement and to provide
significant recognition at its
awards celebration for
Arkansas organizations that
have demonstrated achievements
in the implementation of
quality principles and
practices. Based on the broad
representation of Arkansas
organizations attending the
October 23rd
celebration, the program has
met with statewide acceptance
by organizations who
understand the value of
quality in today’s
workplace.
"This
award process has been
designed to promote the use of
quality management principals.
The result is an improved
competitive position for
Arkansas business and industry
and an improved economic
climate for the state,"
said General Manager Rick Izor.
"For me personally, it is
a wonderful opportunity to
show special recognition for a
unique team of hard working
people at our plant in
Arkadelphia. This is really
their success story".
A team of AQA
examiners evaluated each
nominee. Businesses reported
performance metrics and
practices in such categories
as leadership, strategic
planning, customer and market
focus, information and
analysis, human resource
focus, process management and
business results. This
evaluation comes after a very
thorough application process
that requires many weeks of
preparation.
"Scroll
Technologies’ commitment to
this business improvement
process also includes special
volunteers from its
leadership, said Rick Izor.
Janna Gillespie and Dwayne
Parker devoted many hours as
AQA Examiners. These two
individuals exemplify the
quality and continuous
improvement efforts of Scroll
Technologies".
